How to Qualify

How to Qualify

  • Hamline University students in the sophomore/junior years can apply for summer internships to do independent research.
  • Proposals should be submitted to the Provost in writing by March of each year. Applicants are encouraged to develop the proposal on their own or seek the help of an instructor to guide them while applying.
  • Successful students are selected in May and guided to prepare a research paper which will be ready by February of the following year, going into a research journal.

The Office of the Provost or his or her designated representative(s) shall determine the distribution of the awards in consultation with faculty teaching in the sciences. If suitable recipient(s) is/are not identified in any given year, the earnings from the Fund may be accumulated for an additional year to be used to increase the total number of students sponsored in the following year’s award(s).

Important: This is not a tuition fees sponsorship/scholarship. It is financial support for students doing collaborative research with faculty with 100% of the money going to the students.
